Qualifying Therapy Symptoms

Every family recognizes situations when their loved one needs a little physical help.  But when a parent or loved one no longer wants to leave home because of the taxing effort it requires, that individual may qualify to receive in-home therapy services.

For Physical Therapy if the individual has experienced any of the following issues:

  • Recent decrease in how far he and/or she can walk
  • Recent decrease or loss of balance
  • New onset or increase in pain that interferes with his and/or her routine…especially in arms, legs or back
  • Recent Fall
  • Recent onset of weakness, either general or muscular
  • Discharge from the hospital within last 30 days
  • Needs instruction on use of a new piece of medical equipment, such as a walker or cane

For Occupational Therapy if the individual has experienced any of the following issues:

  • Recent decline in ability to bathe, dress or groom
  • New difficulty in performing routine household tasks
  • Recent onset or increase in pain that interferes with routine activities…especially in the hands, arms or shoulders
  • New increase in SOB with routine activities
  • Difficulty in feeding oneself

For Speech Therapy if the individual has experienced any of the following issues:

  • New onset or difficulty with speech or memory
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Choking or coughing during meals
  • Recent change and difficulty in following commands
