Speech Language Pathologist

Job Title – Speech Language Pathologist

Qualifications – Must have a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from a Department of Speech Pathology at an accredited college/university approved by the American Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Licensed in the State(s) where practicing patient care by the State Board of Healing Arts to practice as a Speech Pathologist. Must have a minimum of two years experience – preferably in home health.

Reports to – Director of Nursing/Clinical Director

Duties –

Conducts appropriate evaluative procedures, assesses home environment, identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.

Identifies functional speech deficits and established goals and plan of care to improve patient’s function.

Administers speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and/or equipment.

Recommends communicative devices/aids as indicated.

Confers with referring physician and other agency personnel to ensure coordinated, efficient patient care.

Attends in-services, clinical record reviews and other meetings as applicable to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.

Maintains necessary clinical and statistical records and submits them in a timely fashion.

Maintains clinical competencies through attendance of in-services, continuing education courses, etc.

Keeps abreast of changes in speech pathology practice and theory; contributes to the field through research, presentations, and in-services.

Other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech pathology services.
