Job Title – Occupational Therapist (OT)

Qualifications – Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association; has at least one year of experience in a health care setting as a practicing Occupational Therapist.

Reports to – Director of Nursing/Clinical Director

Duties –

Assists patients with activities of daily living, i.e., feeding, dressing, grooming, hygiene, communication, and homemaking skills.

Implements skills concerning the following:

  • Gross and fine muscle strength and coordination
  • Cursory/sensory evaluation, tactile sensation, proprioception and sterognosis
  • Active and passive range of motion of upper extremities
  • Evaluation for functional or dynamic splits
  • Evaluation for adaptive equipment to increase independence in activities of daily life (ADL)
  • Activities to increase functional level of performance

Instructs the patient, family members, and other health workers to perform or assist in performance of selective treatment procedures and functional activities.

Attends in-service programs and case conferences to ensure effective coordination of care.

Prepares clinical and progress notes according to Agency policy.
