Job Title – Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Qualifications – Graduate of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program with current registration and license as a COTA in the State where practicing

Reports to – Case Managing Occupational Therapist

Duties –

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. COTAs help people of all ages who have medical problems, or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.

Performing routine treatment procedures in accordance with the Plan of Care.

The COTAs’ duties can include assisting in instructing patients in exercises and activities of daily living (including physical modalities), using special equipment, collecting data on the patient’s progress, and documenting and reporting on the patient’s response.

COTAs may also measure changes in the patient’s performance as a result of the occupational therapy provided.
